Lesson Three: Finding More Items to sell

Posted by | Posted on 10:16 AM

SELL SELL SELL
So the thrift stores should really keep you busy. These stores have a endless amount of things to sell and they always have new things to sell. But are you wondering where people are finding those brand new things and still making profit? Well this lesson is for you!

Some peope by wholesale. Not as many as you think though. Buying wholesale can be expensive if you don't have the cash upfront. Dropshipping can be nice, but as soon as your customer gets something wrong or broken, well then things can get difficult. So what a way to get these new things without going through all the hassel and spending money upfront? Heres is where im going to give away some really great secrets

Stores that put stuff on on deep clearance is a good place, Some stores that i have had success with are places like tj max, ross, and target. These places wil put stuff on clearance and will basically give it away.
You can find things that will amaze you if you look hard enough. So check out those places as you never know whats good to find. If you haven't gotton a smart phone yet that has he ability to scan barcodes now is the great time to invest in this. When you go this wrote it is a invaluable piece of equipment. It will take all the guess work out!

Now im going to give you a store that you can walk around all day and find new things to sell. You don't even have to look for the clearance section. You may not have this store where you live but if you do. USE IT! The store is called Tuesday Mornings. It is a closeout store that sells everything up to 75% off. Im not talking about things people will never use. Im talking about top of the line appliaces and ect. I once found a capresso machine that they sold for $800 and was going online for $2000. See the profit in that find. Everything that you find does not have to be high priced items. they have tons of items that are 5-15 bucks that will go online from 20-30 bucks.

The best part about this store to me is that everything is new and most stuff has been packaged for you. Somethings you will still have to package it but if it comes in a box. You can just put a label on it and send it out. Or you can wrap it up in packing paper. Thats totally up to you. But if you haven't heard of this place then look it up, if you don't have one near you then find one like it.

JACKPOT!!!!
Now lets say you found something hat you making going to make 50 bucks on. Don't buy it. Scan it in your phone if you have one or take a pen and paper and write down everything you can about it. Include the model number you will use this later

Now go home and put it online. You can find pictures and more info on it from the next. Just make sure you find the correct model. Now when it says you have the money in paypal to purchase, you ship it out and look you got your profit. You can easily go into a store like this and scan 50-100 things and have them online just like that.

So i hope that this helps and please remember if you have any question FEEL FREE TO ASK!!!!
If you are wanting to know how drop shipping and wholesaling works then you will learn about that later.
I want to teach you the free way of earning money on eBay. In my opinion the most profitable.

So thanks for ready and i hope this is helping you out in your ebay ventures.

In the next lesson i will give you some more hot tips making your items sell!

Lesson Two: Learning From Your Mistakes

Posted by | Posted on 4:30 PM

So you have done clickbank for a week or so and you haven't gotton quite what you thought you would get out of it. THATS OK, Click Bank is how I intend on training you the basics of affiliate marketing.
If you did make a few sales then that is GREAT because that means that you are learning very quickly.

So now you have got the bases covered its time to drive them in. You niche that you chose can still be used with this one. You job this lesson is to find a program with alot of affiliates to chose from. Good affiliates. You can go to each company you want to promote but i would not recommend this right now. You will have stuff in so many places it will drive you crazy. The to recommendations that i still use today and are very easy is. The Google Affiliate Program and cj.com. Google has alot of high end affiliates but they don't pay out as much as cjs. Cjs works alot like clickbank but with just good advertisers.

So now its time to make another website. You will have alot of websites to keep up but im going to tell you why you need more than one. If you think your going to through a bunch of advertisers on your page and think people are going to click then you need to rethink your strategy. There are site that people use for that. Its called yahoo google and msn. You need to find that niche and stick to it. But go deeper than just baseball. Do Adult baseball bats. You see if you get to broad with your niche then your never going to be found. It would take years for your to build that site

So you want more tips on finding the right niche. Find a keyword tool, google has a great one, or you can just do searches to see. Say you want to do tv's. well you search tvs and your going to get tons and tons of hits. Well if you do a certain brand and a certain size that cuts that in half. (this is just from my head don't take these stats to heart) But thats how you find what you need. A key word tool will tell you how many times it has been searched and how many advertisers there are. This is how you make your money.

So lets say your found a certain kind of baby stroller that alot of people search for and theres no competition out there. That would be a great niche. So make a site soley on that kind of baby stroller. This is because if you get that deep into your key words when people come to your site that exactly what they want

If you just do baby strollers then people are just in informational mode and it would be a impulse purchase. So think outside the box and narrow what your selling down. Ofcourse you may not get as many visitors but the ones you get will be quality. Visitors don't mean sqaut if you can't convert them.

So now that you have what you want to sell in mind you need to make a site. A real site, not a blog of webs.com site. It needs to have your own domain. Why? because it is so much easier to promote a paid site than a free one. Plus the search engines will pick it up so much faster.

Also when you make your site, you really need to put some informational things on there. If you don't people won't stay interested and will just leave. So make sure they are learning on your site and well. Also a little tip here, make your site look like you are the one selling them the products, it doesn't matter cause when they click on your link they will be redirected to there site.

So there is my lesson for today. There is so much more to come and learn. Also i have made a site for web hosting. These are my advertisters and it is one of my affiliate site. You can head over there and check how i set mine up and also you can look into some providers for your site. You can have your own site for 1.95 a month. That plan has everything you need to promote what your going to promote.  So if your going to purchase one and your following my blog, please go through my link. I help you and you help me.

So thats it for today and if you have any questions please ask, if you came to this through my website then go back and ask me a question, if you saw this through blogger.com go to my link and sign up if you have any questions.

Thanks

Lesson One: Getting Started With Affiliate Marketing

Posted by | Posted on 1:51 PM

What you will need: Just a open mind and thinking outside the box. You have everything else you need right infront of you(computer)

If you have searched how to make money online im guessing that you have heard about affiliate marketing. Well i know i did i had no idea how in the heck it worked. Well i have been doing it for awhile now and i can share with you what i have learned about it.

Affiliate Marketing is basically you doing the dirty work for the advertiser. But you get paid for it. In most cases you are actually making more money per transaction than they are. They do this because they want to get there company well know, so they get some free marketing and they make sales. So its a win win for them, For us however, we do not want to be just free marketing for them. So you really have find something that you can premote well.

So in this lesson i am going to get your started very slowley and work your way up in later lessons. What i want you to do is sign up for a click bank account. This is totally free to sign up and use. This will give you a endless supply of advertisers to work with. Most of these advertisters will give you 75% of the sale. Thats alot more than most affiliate programs. Now the programs on click bank isn't Nike and Lowes but there is some good stuff on there to find. Which brings me to my next step.
So now you need to think of a niche. (a catagory that you want to promote) This needs to be something that you are passionate about. But also needs to be something that EVERYBODY is going to be premoting as well. This will be to much competiton and you will never make money like this. So if your into sports then pick your favorite and pick a topic within baseball. Like coaching, equipment, and ect. You really have to think outside the box here.

So hopefully by now you have your niche. Well now you got to be wondering how in the heck do i premote this. Well i am going to direct you to a couple of things. You can start a free blog here on blogger.com or you can go to webs.com and make your own website, just like i have. Everything is free and your still not spending a dime of your own money. So go ahead and write some good content for your page, you want to educate your audicence. So don't just throw together a quick website. Make it look nice and put good info. You can make a blogging account and webs account and put links on both to keep both with traffic

Remember how you were searching clickbank for your niche. Well you need to make sure you premote something in your content on there. If it was baseball and a somebody has there ebook on there to premote then you need to premote that book in your content. The next thing you need to do is put there ads on your site. DO NOT OVERLOAD YOUR PAGE WITH ADS. This will just decrease your traffic and people will not want to read your content. Also in your content put ads that will lead them to there site (via the link that the advertiser give you. This will double your way of getting paid
This is the basis that i will give you to get started. There is MUCH MUCH MUCH more to learn on this topic.

If you have any questions please go to my website http://www.the-dowdy-report.webs.com/
Sign up for the page and you will learn more and more every day!

What comes in the next lesson:
Adsense
Other Affiliate Programs
Ways to get TRAFFIC to your website (very important)

So make sure you go to my site and sign up and you will know when these are posted right away via your email address

Remember if you have any questions feel free to ask. I am here to help you

Thanks again,
Brett

Lesson Two: Enjoying your first sale

Posted by | Posted on 11:25 AM

IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST LESSON CLICK ABOVE FOR EACH LESSON!!!!!

TIME TO GET BACK TO WORK!!!!

So now that you have finally made a sale you have a understanding about how everything works. See it wasn't that hard was it. Well while you were putting things on you were probably wondering how in the heck are people getting that many things online. Well if you were this lesson will definitely help you out

The first tool that you will need to download is Turbo Lister from eBay (http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/)
This tool is totally free and will really speed up your listing. It is extremely easy to use and i suggest that you play around with a little bit before you start putting it to work.
So to start, create a account. This account will link to your eBay account. After you do this you can start listing and start listing fast. You can save all your setting so if you have the same priced items you can save all of that information and only have to type in the description, title, category and picture and your done. So play around with it and you will start understanding it better. I will give you more tips for the Turbo Lister in later blogs.

So if you have already sold all of your items from around the house then your probably wonder where to find more products to sell. Well i am going to give you some of my simple ideas of finding stuff to put online.
My favorite places to go to find very cheap items is to go to a thrift store. There are many well known ones like Goodwill, Salvation Army (the cheapest) and there are also going to be alot of small privately owned stores as well. I recommend Salvation Army and go on Wednesdays because everything is half off.

So what are you going to be looking for when you go? The easiest and best thing to do is clothes. You spend 100 bucks and get 50-60 items of clothes and make 300-400 bucks off of easy. Now if you don't want to spend that much it is fine. Spend as much as you feel fit.

The brand of clothes are very important. I would go with the American Eagle, Abercrombie and those types of clothes. They are the most sought after clothes on eBay and you can get these at a thrift store for about 2 to 3 bucks a pop. Always check your clothes before you buy them for rips, holes, missing buttons, and stains
That's the downside of buying thrift, not all he clothes are in perfect condition.

Next after you have looked around for clothes they always just have things sitting around that are brand new. This is where you have to think outside the box. You never know what you can find in these thrift store that will sale for 200% more online. You just have to put in some work. Remember selling on eBay is a job. Think of it like a job and you will make money. If you think of it as a easy money source then you won't make that much.

So your back home now and your ready to get your treasures on the eBay. Well hear is a valuable tip to follow. Because i know the prices of the clothes that you bought at this place i can tell you what you should price them at. I know that these seem low but you will sale them fast and make more money. If you price them to high you will risk not selling them at all. So just follow this guideline or clothes that your buy at Salvation Army. If you bought them at another thrift shop use the same guidelines. My guidelines below go off of t-shirts being $0.50 Button Downs $2.00 and jeans being $4.00. So if you bought them at another place for more then you can just mark them up according. If you have any questions you can message me directly for questions

PRICING GUIDE
T-shirts - $2.99 - $4.99 and $5.99 S&H
Button Down - $4.99 - 6.99 and $5.99 S&H
Jeans  - 7.99 - 9.99 and 7.99 S&H

Use that to price your clothes and i will explain why. T-shirts you will always send out first class mail . They will cost about 2-3 bucks to send. So now you can calculate your profit. $0.50 for shirt and approx. 2.50 to send. That makes 3 bucks. Well your making approx 6 bucks IF only ONE person bids on them. So time that by how many t-shirts you have and you have your potential profit. See how that can add up quickly. You can use that same math to figure out your other categories. You can try other pricing guides but this has worked for me. My biggest tip is to not over price the items. Of course you have a really nice abercrombie shirt that cost 30 bucks in there store. But people don't get on eBay to buy at the store price. There looking for a deal so price it low get rid of it and make your profit.

So you didn't buy just clothes. Lets say you found a brand new coffee maker in the store for 7 bucks. Well this is where some research will have to go into place. You will need to go to eBay and sign in. Type in the exact name of the coffee maker to see if there selling and what there selling at. So once you have done all of this scroll down and press completed. You may also want to click the new only tab to and find the new ones selling. So you see that its selling for about 25 bucks. (this is all made up in my head so don't take it for fact) Well then i would price it for about 14.99 and 19.99 and about 8.99 shipping and handling. Why not price it at 25 bucks? Because if you price it just a little bit lower then the chances of it selling doubles. So you make sure you make money out of it.

There are many tools out there to simplify this process. I would suggest in buying a smart phone. Not just any smart phone but one that will scan bar codes. This will tremendously help you find good products. If you already have one with these capabilities then you need to go to your app store and download 3 or 4 scanners. They all will help in some way. My favorite is the Amazon Scanner.

I like this scanner because amazon has the biggest inventory of products online. All of these products have description and photos that you can use for your eBay listings. So that coffee maker you could have scanned into your phone. When you got home add that product to your wish list via the scanner and you have all the information you need about that product. This saves time trying to find it on the box or searching for it.

So now that you know all of this, get out there and find your items and get them online. Yeah if your looking at this and saying it seems like work. Well it is. Just because your working from home doesn't mean that your not working. So get at there and look hard. Put in the time if your doing it full time put in 40 hours a week if its part time put in 15 -20. If you do this you will make money

If you do have any questions feel free to ask. I have a website open now that will have more information on it and is newly up and running. Sign up for my members area and don't forget to look at my newsletter for further tips.

Lesson One: How to get started with eBay

Things you need: Computer Printer , Camera, Packing Tape, Scissors, Small Kitchen Scale and WILLING TO LEARN!!

eBay is a great way to make money from your home. Most people believe that it is a get rich thing that doesn't require much work. Well I'm not going to candy coat you or tell you something that is useless. I sell on eBay and I have been a power seller. So lets get down to the basics first

STEP ONE
First off you need to make your eBay account(http://www.ebay.com/). This is simple enough, make a user name and password and fill out all the information that you may need. Also you will need to sign up for a paypal account.(http://www.paypal.com/) This is basically eBay's online bank. Money that you make goes directly into this account and can be transferred into your banking account. After you accomplish all of this then you we can get to some of the funner parts and that's finding things to sell.

STEP TWO
If you are just starting out on eBay then you should look around your house at things you don't need. Don't be a pack rat and really look hard. I bet you can find hundreds of things that you may no longer need. Go through your closet and get stuff that doesn't fit or you never wear. Go through your DVDs for ones that you will never watch again. Anything possible that you would get rid of at a garage sale. This is will give your "free" product to sell. This is good because you don't have to put up any upfront money for products and it gives you great practice.

Now your wondering how to find out what your items are worth. Say you have the new Avatar Movie and you hated it. (which i hope you didn't) But we are going to use this for an example. Examine what kind of condition it is in. Then go online to eBay and simply search for the Avatar game. You can scan over and see how much people are starting these out. But this isn't that important because these may or may not sell. So therefore you need to go down and look on the left and find completed listings. This will now show you all of the ended listing for your avatar movie. Red means it didn't sale and green means that it sold. Scan through and see about how much each are going for. Now that you see that what do your price yours for?

ALWAYS PRICE UNDER THE AVERAGE!!! If you want to make money and make it fast then you should always price the item lower than the average. You don't have to worry about profit loss here because this is stuff that you want to get rid of. So if its selling for 10 bucks then price it at 8.99. This will almost insure that you item will sale the FIRST TIME!

STEP THREE
Now the questions is do you make it a auction or fixed price? My rule of thumb is anything over 30 bucks I do fixed price. Anything under i do auctions. This is simply because fees for auctions are outrageous and you can really start seeing money wasted. But we will get less into fees right now. That will be for later blogs. Also if you use a auction format always add buy it now price to. When you figure in the buy it now price it should only be a couple more dollars more. This price is if people don't want to wait on a auction they can buy it now at this price. Don't get to high with your buy it now price because people with end up completely ignoring your listing. Also you need to add a shipping cost. Right now anything that is very light i would put in as free shipping. If it is heavy add 5-10 bucks for it. Its not a huge deal right now because you want this stuff gone and you want money in your pocket. If you want to you can always go to the postal service and get rates for the weight of it and it will give you an idea.(http://www.usps.com/ But this will be more of a priority when we learn more about selling on eBay

STEP FOUR
So now that you know you should do a auction and you have your price you need to take a quality picture of your item. This is wear a digital camera is in need. If you have some photo enhancing software use this also to make the picture look better. I use this to crop and fix the coloring on some pictures to make it look a lot better.

After all you need to do is give a detailed description of your product. This is the MAJOR seller. It is very important that you are very honest and give a very good description. People have to trust you and know what there paying money for is legit. The picture and your description are your only selling tools that you have right now on eBay. Sense you have just started your account you do not have feedback or a seller rating that people can trust. So making sure you take a good picture and give a very good detailed description is your only seller tools that you can use. In later blogs we will talk more about feedback. But if you do these things you will be on your way to having a great feedback rating.

STEP FIVE
Lastly the final step of selling your product. Shipping your product our in a timely method is ideal. If you don't you will risk having bad feedback. So get it out fast, which is within 3 days of there payment. Now how you ship your items can make or break you. I will give you a detailed diagram below on how to ship your item out the cheapest possible way and still get it there on time. But the basis of shipping is to pack it well and tape everything well.

SHIPPING DIAGRAM (Keep this close)

  • Use this for anything under 13 oz
  • It is very cheap and very fast
