Things you need: Computer Printer , Camera, Packing Tape, Scissors, Small Kitchen Scale and WILLING TO LEARN!!
eBay is a great way to make money from your home. Most people believe that it is a get rich thing that doesn't require much work. Well I'm not going to candy coat you or tell you something that is useless. I sell on eBay and I have been a power seller. So lets get down to the basics first
STEP ONE
First off you need to make your eBay account(http://www.ebay.com/). This is simple enough, make a user name and password and fill out all the information that you may need. Also you will need to sign up for a paypal account.(http://www.paypal.com/) This is basically eBay's online bank. Money that you make goes directly into this account and can be transferred into your banking account. After you accomplish all of this then you we can get to some of the funner parts and that's finding things to sell.STEP TWO
If you are just starting out on eBay then you should look around your house at things you don't need. Don't be a pack rat and really look hard. I bet you can find hundreds of things that you may no longer need. Go through your closet and get stuff that doesn't fit or you never wear. Go through your DVDs for ones that you will never watch again. Anything possible that you would get rid of at a garage sale. This is will give your "free" product to sell. This is good because you don't have to put up any upfront money for products and it gives you great practice. Now your wondering how to find out what your items are worth. Say you have the new Avatar Movie and you hated it. (which i hope you didn't) But we are going to use this for an example. Examine what kind of condition it is in. Then go online to eBay and simply search for the Avatar game. You can scan over and see how much people are starting these out. But this isn't that important because these may or may not sell. So therefore you need to go down and look on the left and find completed listings. This will now show you all of the ended listing for your avatar movie. Red means it didn't sale and green means that it sold. Scan through and see about how much each are going for. Now that you see that what do your price yours for?
ALWAYS PRICE UNDER THE AVERAGE!!! If you want to make money and make it fast then you should always price the item lower than the average. You don't have to worry about profit loss here because this is stuff that you want to get rid of. So if its selling for 10 bucks then price it at 8.99. This will almost insure that you item will sale the FIRST TIME!
STEP THREE
Now the questions is do you make it a auction or fixed price? My rule of thumb is anything over 30 bucks I do fixed price. Anything under i do auctions. This is simply because fees for auctions are outrageous and you can really start seeing money wasted. But we will get less into fees right now. That will be for later blogs. Also if you use a auction format always add buy it now price to. When you figure in the buy it now price it should only be a couple more dollars more. This price is if people don't want to wait on a auction they can buy it now at this price. Don't get to high with your buy it now price because people with end up completely ignoring your listing. Also you need to add a shipping cost. Right now anything that is very light i would put in as free shipping. If it is heavy add 5-10 bucks for it. Its not a huge deal right now because you want this stuff gone and you want money in your pocket. If you want to you can always go to the postal service and get rates for the weight of it and it will give you an idea.(http://www.usps.com/ But this will be more of a priority when we learn more about selling on eBaySTEP FOUR
So now that you know you should do a auction and you have your price you need to take a quality picture of your item. This is wear a digital camera is in need. If you have some photo enhancing software use this also to make the picture look better. I use this to crop and fix the coloring on some pictures to make it look a lot better. After all you need to do is give a detailed description of your product. This is the MAJOR seller. It is very important that you are very honest and give a very good description. People have to trust you and know what there paying money for is legit. The picture and your description are your only selling tools that you have right now on eBay. Sense you have just started your account you do not have feedback or a seller rating that people can trust. So making sure you take a good picture and give a very good detailed description is your only seller tools that you can use. In later blogs we will talk more about feedback. But if you do these things you will be on your way to having a great feedback rating.
STEP FIVE
Lastly the final step of selling your product. Shipping your product our in a timely method is ideal. If you don't you will risk having bad feedback. So get it out fast, which is within 3 days of there payment. Now how you ship your items can make or break you. I will give you a detailed diagram below on how to ship your item out the cheapest possible way and still get it there on time. But the basis of shipping is to pack it well and tape everything well.SHIPPING DIAGRAM (Keep this close)
